Dave is currently Chief Executive Officer of the ASL Aviation Group of companies. The group consists of multiple companies including 7 airlines (8 airline operations) maintenance facilities and a number of leasing entities. ASL’s airlines operate under their own brands and they also operate passenger and cargo networks on behalf of major international customers including express freight integrators and passenger airlines.

Dave has been an integral part of what is now the ASL Group for more than 30 years in various executive roles. He began his ASL career in Safair in Johannesburg, running the airline’s passenger and cargo services including their commercial Hercules humanitarian operations. As Chief Executive of that airline he led the launch and became the first CEO of low-cost carrier, FlySafair.

Overcoming significant regulatory challenges prior to its launch, FlySafair was an immediate success and in just over 9 years the airline has a + 60% domestic market share and has won many national and global awards. Prior to his appointment as Group Chief Executive in July 2020, Dave’s most recent role in the ASL Aviation group was Chief Executive Africa, Asia and Leasing, a position which he held since 2016
