Shahe Ouzounian is an industry veteran with over 30 years experience with freighter aircraft in the charter as well as ACMI sectors. He is the former Chief Operating Officer of Chapman Freeborn Airchartering Ltd, and a former director of the Group’s Magma Aviation, 747 freighter, unit. He was one of the two major shareholders of the holding company for the entities which was sold at the end of 2019, more than a decade after an MBO of the Group in which he participated. His career started in the early 1990s in a sales and business development role at Southern Air Transport Inc., a US operator with Lockheed Hercules, Boeing 747 and DC8 freighters from where he went on to a consulting position with British Airways, focusing on freighter capacity provision for the BA World Cargo unit in the late 1990s. At that time he was also founding editor of Freighters, a technical reference published with the trade publisher of Air Cargo News in the UK. In these roles spanning three decades, his work included deployment of chartered aircraft ranging from commercial capacity for airlines and freight forwarders, between major markets to peacekeeping and humanitarian airlift operations on behalf of various agencies of the UN, governments and the ICRC. This diverse experience brings unique insights to various markets, trends and success of both assets and commercial operator models that encompass the freighter operations sector.
